Guitar Gear Consultation

Tired of getting gyped by disinterested music store employees?  Too much to choose from and you don’t know what you need?  Do you want to get the best value for your dollars?  All music equipment is not created equally.   Even within a given manufacturer’s guitar line, there can be substantial variance in quality between instruments.  Some simply sound and play much better than others.  I have played many instruments so I have an idea of what is great, good, or even terrible.   I can help you find what you need!

When buying new you have the confidence of knowing the historyof the equipment but when dealing with entry level equipment or a tight budget, you can get far better equipment for less money on the used market.  Of course, the opportunity to get ripped off is huge when dealing with used so you need someone who knows the ropes and the gear.  That person is me!  Consider this, a teenage boy with his mother is looking to spend his hard earned money on an entry level amplifier.  The model he wants is $500.  He has worked long and hard for this piece and chances are, he will end up hating it in a matter of a year or less!  The evening after I met him, I looked online and found a Mesa DC5 combo used for $550.  Now this is a high end tube amp for a similar price.  Of course, it might need a retube, and the tech fee will run $50 but the end result will be worth it as the usability and practicality of this gear will far exceed that of the original amp he was looking at.

What’s in it for me?  Well, I love shopping for gear and I know a lot.  It also irks me that music store employees generally cannot help their clientelle make informed choices since they have a vested interest in moving products.  In my opinion, there are certain amp lines that should NEVER sell and yet they do becuase people don’t know what they are doing.  Don’t be that guy, come see the Gear Consultant!!!
